Chet Powers recently brought his world-famous old fashion barber business home to Hendersonville, and indeed many of his patrons are following him! For the last 25 years, Chet has owned Chet’s Barber Shop in Donelson, where he became well-known for superb old fashion service, his signature handshake before each haircut, a high-five to all the kids, and elite list of steadfast clientele.
In the barber business for 40+ years, some of Chet’s clientele came to include Country & Gospel recording artist Mac Wiseman; Grand Ole Opry Announcer & 2002 CMA large market Broadcaster of the Year, Eddie Stubbs; standup bass player, 5-time Player of the Year & 2005 Grammy winner, Mike Bob. Past clients also included the late Johnny Russell and Dale Potter of the Grand Ole Opry.
Already a cornerstone of the Donelson community, Chet’s Barber Shop became known world-wide after several CMT Videos were made at his shop. Known as “chet the Barber,” he had the first ever ball park barber shop at the Nashville Sounds Ball Park during the time Mr. Larry Shmitto owned the Sounds.
Now, Chet has expanded to his hometown of Hendersonville to remain close to family. Long known as king of the flat tops and fades, Chet will continue his signature services that include: business trims, highs and tights, military reg’s, head shaves, neck shaves, and spikes. Special Cuts include: pompadours, rock-a-billie, punk rock, and fades with shaved sides.
Chet’s old-fashioned hot-steam towel & hot lather facial shaves along with a shoulder-neck massage have been dubbed “the best ever.”
Yes, Chet Powers is a proud master barber who loves his country and his Lord. A veteran himself, Chet was honored recently with a Citizen Award by the Music City Young Marines and Commander Anthony Westbrooks, for his patriotism and service to military men and women and displaying the American and Marine Corp flags at his barber shop.
Indeed, Chet wants everyone to know that all military retirees and current military personnel who have fought, or are fighting for his freedom will always receive a discount.
A grand opening celebration is being planned for June 20. Watch for the exciting details in future ads about the surprises, fun, food, and giveaways!
